We made it to Dunedin, FL!
The first part of the journey is over! It took me a little while to make this video since Thanksgiving was two days after we arrived home and then we drove up to Mississippi to visit family.
Along the way the way, we got to hang out with friends and family (some of who you saw in the videos), we narrowly avoided a mishap, and we learned so much about this boat and ourselves.
Someone asked me during the trip how much planning was involved and, as usual, I said it wasn't really that much planning. In Rhode Island, I had a HUGE list and of course lots of money to get the boat ready for the trip but after that, I just kept looking at the weather forecasts on PredictWind and tried to see how far we could go on each leg. Once we were almost there, I'd start looking for anchorages where we wanted to go. I know I have a habit of making things seem easier than they were, but this really was easier than most would've expected! The only hard part was making sure that everything we did, we did it safely.
Now that I'm in the Dunedin/Clearwater area, it's time to make a few repairs and begin planning the next adventures. The mainsheet traveler lost a few bearings as I was trying to adjust the sails and it now doesn't travel very well. The rough seas also stressed one of the welds on the hard bimini top so now it kind of wobbles back and forth (a little scary when you're standing on top trying to pack the mainsail into the stack pack).
Once repairs are done, I fully intend on going back down to Key West and the Bahamas to try and find that warm weather and water! The other day it was 42 degrees in Florida and I wasn't sure if I had actually arrived in Florida!!! 🥶
I'll see you soon with more videos on how I fly the Oxley Levante spinnaker and some of the other repairs/upgrades I did to Bliss. Until then, I hope everyone enjoys their holidays and gets to hang out with family and decompress. Love you all!
Please like the video, subscribe, and all that fun stuff! 😉
